consultations from a choice of community locations, 7 days per week.
This Fellowship in Ultrasound for
Extended Specialist Role is a structured, fully funded development program
designed to support qualified radiographers, in training to become competent
sonographers. The fellowship provides a unique opportunity to gain ultrasound
expertise within primary care and community settings, improving access to
diagnostic imaging and early patient management.

Main duties of the job
The Fellowship in Ultrasound for
Extended Specialist Role UwER Fellow Trainee Sonographer Pathway, will
undertake formal ultrasound training in key areas such as:
General medical ultrasound abdominal, pelvic, soft
tissue
Musculoskeletal MSK ultrasound to support
extended scope practice
Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for rapid
decision-making
Gynaecological ultrasound, contributing to
community-based womens health services.
The fellowship combines hands-on clinical training,
supervised scanning, and academic study through a CASE-accredited postgraduate
pathway, leading to independent practice
Training will be delivered in community diagnostic
hubs, and primary care settings, allowing fellows to integrate imaging
expertise into multidisciplinary patient care pathways

- Training alongside the Clinical Lead to see new and follow up patients under supervision
- Training alongside the admin teams to undertake triage of referrals, actioning of investigation results, completion of letters etc
- Undertake quality improvement projects with the Clinical Lead to ensure that the service is compliant with CQC regulations and acting promptly to implement any necessary governance requirements e.g., clinical audits, development of SOPs etc
