Modality
LLP is a large-scale provider of NHS community outpatient and diagnostic
services. Locally we offer patients access to community outpatient
services across a number of specialty areas including Cardiology, Dermatology,
Rheumatology, ENT, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology, and
Respiratory Medicine. We also offer a range of diagnostic services
including X-ray and Ultrasound.
The
Surgical Pathway Coordinator (SPC) role is responsible for ensuring that
patients requiring surgical procedures within Modality LLP services are
supported through their care pathway in a way that they feel fully informed
about their operation, receive timely information and communication before and
after surgery, and experience a well-coordinated and smooth pathway.

Main duties of the job
Work in
partnership with clinicians and administrative teams to carefully coordinate
the smooth running of the surgical pathway by ensuring that coordinated and
streamlined administrative processes revolve around the patient and their
individual needs.
Work
closely with surgeons and anesthetists to ensure that elective inpatient
theatre sessions are booked to maximum utilisation, taking into consideration
both clinical priority and length of wait.
Lead
the coordination of an efficient and high-quality elective surgery pathway
Coordinate
theatre lists with surgeons, anesthetists and theatre teams
Booking
theatres for surgical lists by liaising with in-house and third-party teams
Building
rotas 3-6 months in advance
Ensuring
patients are appropriately prepped for surgery i.e. checking that previous
consultations, consent forms and pre-operative assessments are available prior
to surgery
Organising
patient transport, as required
Working
closely with specialty admin teams to monitor waiting lists for surgery and
post operative follow ups
Working
with operational teams to monitor and procure equipment and consumables
Sending
out pre-operative and post-operative educational information to patients
Ensuring
that patients are prepped and receive regular reminders about their surgery in
order to minimise the risk of DNAs/cancellations
Providing
an excellent customer service and a professional administrative service to
patients
