Job summary
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer (SATO) to support Aseptic Services in the Pharmacy Department, ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely preparation of aseptic products.
Main duties of the job
Assist in the safe and accurate aseptic preparation and dispensing of cytotoxic, hazardous, and monoclonal products in accordance with SOPs and GMP
Assemble trays for aseptic compounding, including raw materials, consumables, and labels, and perform in-process checks
Support workload prioritisation through effective communication with senior staff

Job title: Senior Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer (SATO) - Aseptic Services Salary: Band 3 NHS AFC equivalent Location: 22 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6BW Job Type: Permanent / Full-time Hours: 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday (with participation in weekends and bank holidays as required) The role We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer (SATO) to support Aseptic Services in the Pharmacy Department, ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely preparation of aseptic products. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality aseptic compounding service, maintaining compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and relevant national guidelines. Key Duties
Provide daily top-up services to the Aseptic Services Unit and manage sundries ordersEnsure accurate and timely charging of aseptically prepared productsParticipate in environmental monitoring, cleaning, and quality assurance activities within the aseptic unitSupport quality improvement initiatives and contribute to best practice in aseptic servicesAssist with stock management, including ordering, storage, expiry date checking, and stock rotationReceive, unpack, and store medicines and consumables appropriately, ensuring correct documentation and quarantine where requiredParticipate in stock takes and maintain accurate stock records using pharmacy systemsMaintain clean, organised storage and working areasAssist in training and supporting new staff, including pharmacy assistants and traineesParticipate in audits, governance activities, and departmental projectsSupport dispensary services and contribute to weekend and bank holiday rotas as requiredMaintain confidentiality and comply with health and safety, COSHH, and risk management requirements Skills and Experience Essential:
NVQ Level 2 in Pharmaceutical Services (or equivalent)Experience working within a hospital pharmacy and multidisciplinary teamExperience in aseptic preparation and dispensingKnowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)Experience in stock management, including stock rotation and expiry date checksStrong organisational and time management skillsAbility to prioritise workload and respond to changing demandsExcellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a teamGood numeracy skills and high attention to detailComputer literacy, including experience with pharmacy systems Desirable:
