Job summary

* To have specialist knowledge and expertise in the care and management of patients with life limiting illnesses including the provision of holistic assessments on specialist symptom control, social, emotional, psychological and spiritual care for the patient and their family * To ensure continual optimal care for inpatients, outpatients and their families. * To assess, plan, implement and evaluate all aspect of the patient's physical, psychological, and social needs.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in a team with the Consultant in Palliative Medicine and one other Palliative Care and Symptom Control CNS at The London Clinic. They will be required to complete comprehensive and holistic assessment of patients with life limiting illnesses and formulate care plans to meet the palliative care needs of patients. As a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), they will work collaboratively with other members of the MDT to provide the highest standards of specialist nursing care to patients with complex palliative care and End of Life Care (EoLC) needs. The post holder will facilitate and support healthcare teams to implement evidence-based practice, and will contribute to the development of Palliative and EoLC services at The London Clinic

We are recruiting a Palliative Care and Symptom Control CNS to join our Specialist Palliative and Symptom Control Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role As a CNS in our specialist palliative care team, you will work closely with our Palliative Medicine Consultant and a fellow CNS to deliver expert, gold-standard care to patients with both malignant and non-malignant conditions. You will support patients and their families through complex care needs, drawing on your clinical expertise and emotional insight to ensure high-quality, person-centred support. Key Duties

  • Conduct in-depth assessments addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs
  • Develop and monitor individualised care plans in partnership with patients and families
  • Offer clinical advice and emotional support to colleagues and carers
  • Work closely with internal and external teams to ensure continuity of care
  • Support service development and contribute to staff training

  • Significant experience in oncology and palliative care
  • At least one year in a CNS role within a palliative setting
  • A postgraduate qualification (completed or in progress) in palliative care
  • Confidence managing complex caseloads with a high level of autonomy
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
