Job summary
The post holder will work in a team with the Consultant in Palliative Medicine and one other Palliative Care and Symptom Control CNS at The London Clinic. They will be required to complete comprehensive and holistic assessment of patients with life limiting illnesses and formulate care plans to meet the palliative care needs of patients.
Main duties of the job
* To have specialist knowledge and expertise in the care and management of patients with life limiting illnesses including the provision of holistic assessments on specialist symptom control, social, emotional, psychological and spiritual care for the patient and their family
* To ensure continual optimal care for inpatients, outpatients and their families.
* To assess, plan, implement and evaluate all aspect of the patient's physical, psychological, and social needs.
* As part of your role you will be expected to provide advice and support for colleagues, communicating sensitive information regarding diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options, advance care planning and outcomes of illness, including future care, end of life care and bereavement
* To provide supportive care to patients and their families
* To show understanding of and explore ethical considerations when reviewing patients, such as mental capacity, best interest decision making and cultural variability and sensitivities
* Monitor patients on an ongoing basis, evaluate outcomes and adjust nursing care practise to ensure optimum co-ordination and delivery of care.
* To participate on daily ward rounds to patients on the palliative care and symptom control case load throughout the Clinic
* To keep accurate, legible records and be aware of legal implications of these documents.
* To participate in MDT's and act as patients' advocate in their absence, using knowledge and skills to co-ordinate continuity of care.

Job title: Palliative Care and Symptom Control CNS Salary: £50,713 - £60,848 Location: 22 Devonshire Place, London Job Type: 12 Months Fixed-Term Contract Hours: 37.5 hours Monday - Friday An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care and Symptom Control to join our dynamic and well-established Specialist Palliative and Symptom Control Team (SPSCT) on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Based at our award-winning Duchess of Devonshire Wing in Marylebone, The London Clinic is a leading independent sector cancer centre, where innovation, clinical excellence, and compassionate care are central to everything we do. About us One of the UK's leading independent cancer centres, offering expert care across all tumour types with a strong reputation in stem cell transplant, CAR-T therapy and novel systemic treatments. Since 1932, we've delivered exceptional patient care across eight premises, including our main hospital and our purpose-built cancer centre. The Duchess of Devonshire Wing offers state-of-the-art radiotherapy, chemotherapy suites, and 47 dedicated oncology and haematology beds. The role As a CNS in our specialist palliative care team, you will work closely with our Palliative Medicine Consultant and a fellow CNS to deliver expert, gold-standard care to patients with both malignant and non-malignant conditions. You will support patients and their families through complex care needs, drawing on your clinical expertise and emotional insight to ensure high-quality, person-centred support. Key Duties
