Job summary
The Ward Manager is responsible for the overall management, clinical leadership, and operation of a designated ward within The Clinic, ensuring high-quality patient care, effective use of resources, and a positive environment for patients, families, and staff. This is a patient-facing role, requiring visible and accessible leadership to support staff, patients, and visitors while fostering a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
* Provide clinical leadership and oversight, ensuring nursing teams deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care through assessment, planning, interventions, and evaluation.
* Lead, motivate, and develop the nursing team, ensuring compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements.
* Foster a positive, just culture that prioritises learning from incidents, audit, patient and staff experience, promoting safe, high-quality care.
* Manage ward finances and resources, including staffing, equipment, and budgets, in a cost-effective manner and in line with Clinic policies.
* Deliver and manage regular supervision, training, coaching, and appraisal to nursing staff, supporting their professional development.
* Act as a visible presence in clinical areas, providing guidance, advice, and support to staff, patients, relatives, and carers.
* Provide specialist advice and leadership to the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT), ensuring patient-centred decision-making.
* Ensure compliance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council's Code of Professional Conduct and uphold standards of professional practice.
* Promote and maintain a culture of continuous quality improvement, ensuring services are safe, effective, and patient-centred
* This is a patient facing role and ward managers are expected to undertake daily leadership ward rounds to actively engage with patients and families on their ward, gathering real-time feedback on patient care quality, identifying potential issues,
