Job summary

The Uro-Oncology CNS plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered care to individuals diagnosed with Urological cancers. Serving primarily as the patient's cancer keyworker, the post-holder provides expert clinical leadership, education, advocacy, and support to patients and their care partners.

Main duties of the job

* To undertake advanced patient assessment, advising on immediate care or referral for medical interventions, ensuring the prompt and effective management of patients.

* To serve the key role of Cancer Keyworker, empowering Urological Cancer patients and their partners with person-centred information and support, and where necessary facilitating communication and decision making between them and the multidisciplinary team

* To effectively manage an ongoing caseload of patients, working within the multidisciplinary team to facilitate care and refer patients to specialist professionals, as necessary.

* To proactively assist the team to develop and implement integrated care pathways for Uro-Oncology patients with the multidisciplinary team, especially within the Oncology pathway. To encourage the completion of the whole pathway at The London Clinic.

* To ensure liaison with the MDT Coordinator to ensure that patients are included in MDT discussion at all relevant timepoints within their care.

* To develop complex reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to inform health assessments, clinical judgements and to make decisions independently regarding the care and priorities.

* To complete Holistic Needs Assessment aimed at optimising Quality of Life whilst living with Cancer, at key points in the patient's pathway.

* To deliver the Cancer Recovery Package to all patients with a urological cancer diagnosis.

This role is a based in our Oncology wing at our main hospital in Central London. We are offering a competitive salary of £50,713 - £60,848 per annum plus a fantastic array of benefits. Job Profile: As one of two Uro-Oncology CNS's, you will provide expert information, clinical support and guidance to patients undergoing diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for all urological cancer diagnoses. Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team of surgeons, oncologists, nurses and allied health professionals, you will play a key role in delivering individualised, evidence-based care whilst optimising support for patients and their care partners through every step of their cancer journey, in the essential capacity as their keyworker and advocate.
