An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Ward Manager on one of our acute wards at Priory Hospital Preston.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate for this role will:

  • Provide senior nursing leadership to the ward nursing team in support of the Ward Manager.
  • Have a degree of clinical experience and leadership that provides expertise and confidence to the nursing team and ward overall.
  • Have defined delegated responsibilities from the ward manager, protected time for deputy ward manager duties and have supervisory responsibilities for an agreed group of staff.

The hospital specialises in the management and treatment of patients experiencing an acute mental health crisis with two dedicated acute wards as well as a specialised unit to support patients with a diagnosis of an eating disorder. Services work in partnership with the NHS to provide the best quality outcomes for all patients. An extensive clinical and nursing team work alongside therapy disciplines of Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics and Activity Coordinators throughout the hospital. Job responsibilities

To be successful as Deputy Ward Manager, you'll need:

First level Registered Nurse (RMN)

Clinical supervision experience is essential, training is desirable

Evidence of CPD and intent to maintain and develop CPD and leadership.

Good computer skills

Experience in Acute Mental Health

At Least 3 years, or equivalent post registration experience.

Mentorship desirable however training could be provided
