Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language therapist who has experience in neurological disorders and communication difficulties.

Main duties of the job

Working on a rehab ward with up to 14 patients. This is an opportunity to work with longer stay inpatients to support individual rehab and be a part of a therapies team including Occupational Therapy, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Physiotherapy and Psychology, as well as a wider MDT including Psychiatry and the nursing teams.

Bristol is part of the Healthcare Division of Priory Group it has 77 beds over seven wards varying from Eating Disorders, Acute Mental Health, Adult Psychiatric Intensive Care, Acquired Brain Injury, Huntingtons and Dementia, along with a growing outpatient therapy service.

Job responsibilities

We are looking for someone to provide highly specialised assessment and therapy for dysphagia and communication impairments to a wide range of adult clients with mental health diagnoses and complex conditions including acquired and progressive neurological conditions e.g. Huntington's disease, Parkinson's, and stroke.

Essential criteria

Degree and Licence to Practise from the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists

Current AHP with UK HCPC registration and RCSLT membership

Desirable criteria

Well established knowledge of a broad range assessment tools relevant to the specialist client group

Evidence of relevant post-registration education and training e.g. in Stroke, Supervision

Member of a relevant Clinical Excellence Network

Evidence of competence in managing dysphagic patients
