Job summary

Are you passionate about working in mental health? Do you want to enable individuals to improve their wellbeing, quality of life and independence? We are looking to employ an enthusiastic full-time or two part-time occupational therapists to work across two of our inpatient wards: a 12-bed mens acute ward and an 11-bed mens psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU).

Main duties of the job

Although you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, comprising of nurses, healthcare assistants, psychiatrist, specialty doctor, fitness instructor and activity coordinator, a large part of the role will also involve autonomous working. You will be expected to apply your occupational therapy skills, complete thorough risk assessments, carry a caseload and use evidence-practice to guide your therapeutic interventions.

Job responsibilities

The role will involve completing standardised and non-standardised assessments, developing and implementing person-centered treatment plans, facilitating group and 1:1 work and contributing to multi-disciplinary team meetings. You will also be working alongside an occupational therapy assistant and may be required to provide supervision to other occupational therapy staff.

Although you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, comprising of nurses, healthcare assistants, psychiatrist, specialty doctor, fitness instructor and activity coordinator, a large part of the role will also involve autonomous working.
