Job summary
The post holder will be qualified and registered with HCPC with preferred experience in dementia and mental health care. The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent interpersonal skills when liaising with members of the multi-disciplinary team, external agencies and organisations, patients and relatives.
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate genuine commitment and enthusiasm for working with this client group.
Main duties of the job
Set within a safe and therapeutic environment, the Priory Hospital Dewsbury is a 32 bedded locked service, supporting two different service user groups:
Hartley Ward which is a 16 bed ward focusing on the active rehabilitation and recovery of men with mental health issues. The emphasis is on stabilising mental health, reducing risks and enhancing independent living skills, with a view to reintegration into the community or supportive living.
Jubilee Ward which is a 16 bed ward that supports men with neuro-cognitive disorders namely, dementia, and behaviours that challenge. Many have a number of physical heath needs

Manages and co-ordinates the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring
treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication.
Receives and responds promptly to referrals undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs
before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis.
Maintains accurate and timely records detailing each patients rehabilitation / progress.
Ensures the effective and efficient management of more junior staff
Maintains and develops close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multi-disciplinary
team, ensuring clinical practice is in line with Priory policies and procedures and complies with statutory regulations and
quality standards.
Maintains effective communication links with patients, relatives, carers, and purchasers throughout the patients
rehabilitation.
