Main duties of the job

At NHS SBS we provide payroll services for the NHS, and we have created several new teams to help us facilitate the growth of the services we provide to the NHS, leading to the openings for 5 Payroll Team Leaders. Your teams will be responsible for resolving the payroll queries of client and colleagues. With your support they will manage and investigate cases, discovering the root cause of any issues and provide corrective actions. You act as a point of escalation to your team, providing expert knowledge to help the resolution of their investigations.

What youll be doing:

  • Leading a small team and inspiring performance against a set of targets
  • Lead 121s and set performance objectives in collaboration with team manager
  • Provide expert knowledge on payroll processes and systems
  • Act as point of escalation for more sophisticated queries
  • Ensure smooth and effective service is provided to client using the service
  • Play active role in ongoing development of processes in a continuous improvement environment

What you will bring:

  • Experience in leading a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate confidently at all levels
  • Client management experience
  • Ability to set and achieve both personal and team performance targets
  • Computer literate, especially using MS Excel

It would be great if you had:

  • Advanced skills with MS Excel, Word
  • Ability to manage a small budget (FTEs, overtime)
