The
post holder will work as member of the Super Vaccinator Team for LLRPCL. Being
a registered nurse, the post holder will support the delivery of a high-quality
childhood/Adult immunisation programme across
Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. delivering large scale immunisation and
vaccination programmes within Primary care and community settings. To also support in the offer
of vaccinations if an outbreak of disease occurs.
Main duties of the job
Prepare and administer immunisations/vaccinations safely and
competently in accordance with professional accountability local/national
standards and guidelines.
Competent
and skilled in the administration of injectable intramuscular vaccines as
well as the administration of nasal flu vaccine.
Respond
to clinical emergencies (anaphylaxis) initiating basic life support to
ensure emergency procedures are executed and reported in accordance with
national and local policy.
Plan
and co-ordinate clinic immunisation sessions and home visits.
Assess children and young people to ensure their
inclusion for immunisation/vaccination programmes meets the required
criteria for administration under a Patient Group Directive (PGD).
Ensure
Cold Chain is managed in in accordance with maintaining the cold chain of
medicines policy and audit/records are maintained.
Compliance
with the medicines management standards throughout the process including
robust awareness of immunisation history and contraindications to
vaccination.
Assess
and engage professional judgement to ensure parent / carer / young
persons consent is informed in accordance with national and local
policy/guidelines.
Support
parent / carer / children and young peoples sensitivity to ensure their
inclusion complies with equal opportunities and diversity.
Assess
and signpost children and young people to the appropriate named Health
Together practitioner for additional advice and support.
