About the Role If you are an experienced ANP who is passionate about patient centred care, wanting to enhance your primary care clinical skills and develop your leadership potential then we are the urgent care provider of choice for you! We have an exciting opportunity for Advanced Nurse Practitioners to join our team on a permanent basis, within our GP out of hours team, based in York Hospital.

Main duties of the job

Working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner within our team, you will be responsible for the assessment of health and clinical needs of our patients, undertaking consultations as an autonomous practitioner. You will also use your advanced clinical practice skills, and own clinical judgement to diagnose, treat, refer or discharge patients. This role will include both telephone triage and face to face consultations either in one of our centres or the patient's own home. The role is supported by a variable rota covering weekday evenings, weekends and bank holidays. We provide a supportive environment with access to clinical on call 24 hours per day. This includes governance procedures and performance reviews.

Job responsibilities

Your day to day

Carry out consultations with patients - taking a comprehensive patient history; physical examinations and use of your expert knowledge and clinical judgement to identify potential diagnosis. Refer patients for investigations when necessary/appropriate. Decide on and carry out treatment, including the prescribing of medicine or referring to primary or secondary care specialist services within local agreed pathways and protocols as appropriate. Provide clinical advice and mentorship to junior clinical staff.

Experience

  • Evidence of study in minor injury or willingness to develop these skills
  • Evidence of completion of study in paediatric minor illness or willingness to develop these skills
