CYP Vaping and Stop Smoking Practitioner

Job summary

We are seeking a passionate and proactive CYP (Children and Young People) Vaping and Stop Smoking Practitioner to lead an enhanced school-based health initiative. This role focuses on raising awareness of the risks associated with vaping, smoking, and cannabis use among young people, delivering targeted interventions, and supporting school staff and families through education and training.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will deliver engaging school assemblies using visuals, real stories, and interactive activities, alongside facilitating workshops that educate young people on the risks of smoking and vaping while promoting behaviour change through practical tools such as savings calculators and creative tasks. You will provide group and one-to-one support for students identified through these sessions, including conducting CO readings and offering nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) in line with government guidance. You will also contribute to a multi-channel marketing campaign in collaboration with ABL Health and partner agencies, supporting content creation for social media, influencer activity, and traditional marketing materials, as well as helping to monitor campaign performance through data and feedback. Additionally, you will deliver staff training using a Train-the-Trainer modelsuch as Very Brief Advice sessionsand host quarterly parent webinars to raise awareness of youth nicotine addiction and available support. Finally, you will support the development of school-facing resources, including a comprehensive guidance pack outlining practical approaches for assisting pupils addicted to nicotine and pathways for accessing further support.

Job responsibilities

Working collaboratively with ABL Health and other partner agencies, you will help design and deliver creative campaigns, evidence-based workshops, and practical resources that inspire young people to make healthier choices and empower schools to build supportive, smoke-free environments.

Your key responsibilities will be:

1. Awareness & Education

Deliver engaging assemblies tailored to school audiences, using visuals, real stories, and interactive elements.

Facilitate workshops that educate students on the risks of smoking / vaping and promote quitting through tools like savings calculators and creative tasks.

Provide group and 1:1 support for students identified through assemblies and workshops, including CO readings and nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) in line with government guidelines.

2. Marketing & Campaigns

Collaborate with ABL Health and other agencies to implement a multi-channel marketing campaign targeting youth smoking, vaping, and cannabis use.

Contribute to content creation for social media, influencer partnerships, and traditional marketing materials.

Support campaign performance tracking through data analytics and student feedback.

3. Staff & Parent Training

Deliver regular teacher training sessions using the Train the Trainer model to include:

o Very Brief Advice (20 mins): Basic smoking cessation knowledge and resources.

Host at least one parent webinar per quarter to educate families on youth nicotine addiction and available support.

4. Resource Development

Assist in creating a guidance pack for schools on supporting pupils addicted to nicotine and referral pathways for wider support.

Proposed Weekly Schedule to cover ;

Two full days in schools, typically including:

o Assemblies (1 long or 2 short)

o Morning, lunch, and afternoon workshops

o Drop-in clinics during break, lunch, and after school

Monthly / Quarterly
