Job summary

Using psychologically based strategies and support methods, the Behaviour Support Worker will work collaboratively with our team and clients to deliver personalised support interventions to children and young people. Depending on client need, this may include supporting individuals in residential, educational, and vocational settings. They will provide support to children, young people, and their families who have complex needs. We aim to help our clients develop or maintain stable, satisfying lives. We support a diverse client-base whos needs may include but are not limited to suspected or diagnosed neurodiversity, mental health difficulties, behaviours that are considered challenging and/or risky, developmental conditions, and trauma.

Main duties of the job

In addition to working closely with other Support Workers, youll work in partnership with our internal clinical team and have access to the wider organisations multidisciplinary team for support. This position is well-suited to individuals interested in social interventions and working with families in crisis.

Those with youth/family work or residential experience may find this role to be a natural next step in their professional development, though we welcome applications from candidates outside of these fields as well.

Main Duties and responsibilities

To support the clinical team with interventions and assessments, as recommended and supported by our Clinical Lead. To engage with professional development and supervision to enable effective implementation of appropriate assessment and intervention methods.

To exercise assessment and intervention with clients working alongside other professionals in the multidisciplinary team under the guidance of the Clinical Lead, other clinicians, and our Team Leaders.

To maintain good working relationships with other members of the multidisciplinary team and ensure effective communication through good verbal communication skills, written communication, and record keeping.

To attend and contribute during multi-disciplinary meetings where necessary.

To share behavioural advice, guidance and consultation to families, support staff and other professionals under the guidance of team leadership.

To manage highly complex information and sensitive situations involving exposure to distressing, traumatic, and emotional material, including exposure to behaviours of concern. It is essential that candidates have an awareness of the importance of self-care and are willing and able to use the support available within the team to manage the demands of working with such a varied and complex client base. Awareness of safeguarding is also paramount though further training in this area will be provided.

To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner information contributing to client assessment, formulation, and intervention planning with both clients and professionals.

To continue to develop skills and knowledge through further training.

To share advice, consultation and training with families and staff working with the client group across a range of settings, under guidance of Case Leads and Clinical Leads where appropriate.

Responsible for the regular use of information technology resources to facilitate communication, to develop clinical assessment and intervention resources.

To contribute to the maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes.

To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of practice.

Demonstrate and uphold exemplary professional boundaries when working with vulnerable clients, ensuring best practices are followed in all interactions, whether in the office or within the community.

Cultivate strong, trusting relationships with clients and their families to foster positive engagement in IPS interventions, promoting successful outcomes through a consistently positive and encouraging approach.
