Job Title:Audiovestibular Specialist / Vestibular Audiologist

Location:UHCW

Registration Required:AHCS/HCPC Registration (ideally both)

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a skilled Audiovestibular Specialist / Vestibular Audiologist to join our team at UHCW.

The role involves assessing and treating patients referred by their GP due to symptoms of recurrent dizziness or vertigo.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in audiovestibular testing and be committed to providing high-quality care to patients.

Job responsibilities

Patient History & Initial Assessment:Review patient history and complete a clinical questionnaire if not already done prior to the clinic.

Testing & Diagnostics:Perform a range of diagnostic tests, including:

  • Dix Hallpike Test
  • Epley Test
  • VNG (Videonystagmography)testing: Monitor and record eye movements while the patient watches a series of movements on a screen and moves their head.Interpret results, identify trends, and analyze anomalies using your expert judgment.

Patient Communication:

Discuss test results with patients, explaining findings and next steps. If any issues are identified, refer patients for further treatment, MRI scans, or to other departments. If no issues are found, discharge the patient.

Documentation & Reporting:

Complete journal entries on the EPR (Electronic Patient Record), dictating findings for the preparation of letters to be sent to the patient.

Ensure that all reports are reviewed by Principal Clinical Scientist before being finalized and sent out.

Review Appointments:

For follow-up visits, review previous treatments, assess the effectiveness of prescribed exercises, determine if further testing is needed, and make decisions regarding patient referrals or discharge
