Job summary
A Urogynaecology Nurse in the NHS specializes in caring for patients with pelvic floor disorders, urinary incontinence, and other urogynaecological conditions. Their role involves both clinical care and patient support, working alongside consultants and multidisciplinary teams in outpatient clinics, hospital wards, and community settings.
Main duties of the job
- Patient Assessment & Care: Conducting assessments, taking medical histories, and assisting with diagnostic procedures such as urodynamic tests.
- Treatment & Management: Providing conservative management advice, such as pelvic floor muscle training, bladder retraining, and continence care.
- Patient Education & Support: Offering guidance on managing symptoms, lifestyle changes, and treatment options, ensuring informed decision-making.
- Assisting with Procedures: Supporting clinicians in minor procedures, catheter management, and pessary fittings.
