title: Part time Stock & Retail Supervisor
Responsible to: Retail Manager
Responsible for:
The post holder will have no direct reports, but will be expected to
perform all the key responsibilities described with some supervision and for
presenting themselves and their work effectively.
Basic
function
The main objective of this role is to support retail supervisor to
achieve shop targets by movement
and replenishment of stock between our donation points and multi-channel retail
outlets. The successful applicant will also be required to work in one of our
stores or other retail outlets in a sales capacity to meet the needs of the
business. Our Retail portfolio currently includes three shops located in
Hackney, market and pop up stalls and events, and our online channels. More
shops may be acquired in the future. Collecting donations from local home
owners or corporates may also be part of our future plans. The post holder will
also be responsible for packing and dispatching by mail all online orders.
The
Stock & Retail Supervisor will be a key holder, working 4 days out of 7
days, and is required to have a clean manual driving licence. It is important
to note that the nature of the work will require a lot heavy lifting.
Discretion to act
The
post holder will make day-to-day decisions under the direction of the Retail
Manager, and in line with Hospice and Retail processes and procedures.
Scale and impact
The
post holder will not be responsible for any direct reports and will not have
any budget responsibility. However, they are expected to have an understanding
of the sales target for each outlet and work towards achieving them with
support from the Retail Manager.
Key accountabilities
1.
Stock control and movement
1.1 Responsible for collecting goods from Hospice donation points in coordination with our volunteer sorters
1.2 Assess and sort stock to meet the demographics of each retail outlet in coordination with volunteer sorters and retail staff
1.3 Responsible for the movement of stock, including delivering it between all retail outlets, in line with Hospice stock rotation processes
1.4 Replenish stock in all retail outlets as requested by the retail lead in each to ensure that stock levels remain high
1.5 Responsible for bar coding donations to ensure each item is correctly tagged to the right department
1.6 Train staff and volunteers in the bar coding process
1.7 Responsible for packing and dispatching online orders, in coordination with the Retail Marketing team and volunteers
1.8 In the future, take responsibility for arranging stock collections from local homeowners or corporate donors
1.9 Arrange the sale and collection of unsold goods with the rag merchant, securing the best possible price
2.
Retail sales
2.1 Responsible as a key holder for opening and closing one of our shops, ensuring that it is open for business at the specified opening hours
2.2 Supervise shifts in our retail outlets in a sales capacity
2.3 Supervise, support, coach and develop a team of volunteers
2.4 Contribute to the training of new volunteers, as well as conducting refresher training as needed
2.5 Supervise and contribute to the delivery of the tasks listed in the daily job list including cleaning, stock replenishment and sorting of donations
2.6 Ensure that a great experience is delivered to customers by all staff and volunteers
2.7 Manage customer queries or complaints quickly and to their satisfaction, elevating any issues to the Retail Manager if necessary
2.8 Responsible for reporting any concerns relating to staff, maintenance or safety to the Retail Manager
2.9 Lead by example by providing a positive working environment for volunteers
2.10 Develop accurate end of
day figure sheets and any other financial or other reports required by the
Retail Manager
2.11 Bank daily takings in line with Hospice
policies and procedures

Health and safety
3.1
Day-to-day
responsibility for ensuring that the shop and stock management processes are
followed in line with health and safety guidelines
3.2
Take
personal responsibility for always following lifting and handling procedures,
ensuring that training and refresher training is always kept up-to-date
3.3 Train
volunteers how to safely sorting and handle donated goods from containers, in
line with health and safety and lifting and handling procedures
4.
Communications and
coordination
4.1 Communicate effectively between volunteers, Retail Supervisors and
the Retail Manager to ensure that all stock needs are met
4.2 Train volunteers on
stock guidelines, and how to adhere to them
4.3 Write handover notes
relating to stock for the next Supervisor on shift
4.4 Build a good rapport with local people to
encourage a strong sense of community
5.
