Job summary

St. Vincents Nursing Home is a not-for-profit, independent Nursing Home registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Our aim is to be a leading residential and nursing care provider.

Job Purpose: To lead your unit within St. Vincents Nursing Home, ensuring that high-quality care to our residents is always being delivered.

Main duties of the job

Provide clinical support and guidance within the nursing care team.

Mentor your team to upskill and support them.

Support your team with competency-based monitoring and training around the Care Certificate.

Provide strong leadership in the clinical environment using the core skills of facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution, teaching and delegation.

Manage the ordering and administration of medication for all residents.

Monitor staff performance and conduct andannual appraisals with all direct reports

Ensure safe systems of work are in line with the Home requirements

Represent the Home on Health & Safety matters

Participate in and lead organisational clinical and nursing audit programmes

Support Governance in the investigation of incidents, accidents and complaints.

Induct new staff and organise training.

Work closely with the other Nurse Managers on a rotational basis.

Keep accurate records of day to day practice.

Adhere to the requirements of confidentiality in relation to residents and staff by referring to the Safeguarding and GDPR policies St Vincents Nursing Home and CQC.

To ensure personal compliance with Home Policies and Procedures including Health & Safety and Security Regulations.

To maintain desired standards of behaviour and general appearance.

Receive induction training and yearly updates for Manual Handling Moving and Positioning, to provide sufficient and safe practice with residents. This includes working with hoists, rota stands, and other specialised transfer, positioning and postural management equipment, in the correct way, fulfilling Health & Safety policies and legislation.

To follow St Vincents Nursing Home training requirements such as yearly mandatory training via e-learning, staff competencies and workshops if required to attend.
