Flippin Pain was established in 2020 to improve the outcomes and experiences of people affected by persistent pain. We do this by raising awareness and sharing a modern scientific understanding of pain with those directly impacted and professionals attempting to support them.

To support the continued growth of the campaign we are now looking for a passionate, creative, multi-skilled and dynamic individual with an interest in pain science and management and public/population health to join our team in the role of Campaign Manager.

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside the Campaign Director and our other Campaign Manager as well a broad range of other key stakeholders with a rich and diverse range of responsibilities including:

  • Co-ordinating the creative co-design of Flippin Pain events, activities, and other projects to align with campaign values and objectives
  • Identifying and securing new opportunities for the campaign to grow and develop
  • Overseeing the successful delivery of Flippin Pain events and activities within agreed timeline and budget
  • Supporting the design and execution of campaign evaluation
  • Contributing to the influence and reputation of the campaign, supporting the creation of content for print, web, and social media.

We are looking for someone who is enthused by our mission and passionate about supporting Flippin Pain to achieve these aims.

In addition to your enthusiasm for the role you will:

  • Be an excellent communicator, able to quickly form relationships with a diverse range of clients and colleagues
  • Have a broad understanding of pain science and the challenges faced by a range of stakeholders due to misinformation and misunderstanding associated with an outdated, biomedical model of pain.
  • Have an interest, specialist knowledge, and/or experience of working in the field of communications, engagement, and marketing.
  • Have experience of working within healthcare, public health, 3rd sector, or other organisations committed to delivering social good.
  • Have experience of leading a group in the successful delivery of a project, from the creation of project specification through to achievement of project KPIs

Despite its alarming prevalence and impact the prevailing narrative about persistent pain what is it, why it often persists, and how best to manage it- is awash with misinformation and misunderstanding. This misunderstanding and misinformation is compounding an already stark and spiralling problem.

Flippin Pain is a public health campaign with the aim of changing (or flippin) the way people think about, talk about, and treat persistent pain. Scientific evidence clearly shows that changing how we think about pain can change how we manage it, and even how it feels.

Flippin Pain deliver events and activities and create resources to bring a modern understanding of pain science to those who need it most those affected by persistent pain, the communities in which they live, and the professionals who are tasked with providing support to them.
