Speciality Doctor / Surgeon in Plastic Surgery and Skin Cancer

Cotswold Surgical Partners

The closing date is 30 September 2024

Job summary

Cotswold Surgical Partners is a Consultant-led and Care Quality Commission regulated provider of NHS and Private Dermatology and Plastic Surgery in locations across Wiltshire. Though we currently operate from two locations, this role will primarily be based at our centre in Royal Wootton Bassett with periods of cover required (for annual leave) from our community clinic based at Spa Medical Centre in Melksham.

We offer a community-based skin surgery and dermatology service, commissioned by both NHS Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board and NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board. We also support NHS skin surgery patients referred from the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, North Bristol NHS Trust, Gloucester Royal Hospital and the Royal United Hospital in Bath. This covers day case surgical procedures, outpatient procedures and routine assessment clinics.

Housing two fully functioning day case operating theatres and five clinic rooms suitable for outpatient and minor operative procedures, we offer a skin cancer diagnostic and treatment service, whilst also expanding our range of services and treatments to meet the growing needs of our patients locally. Currently these include not only dermatological services and dermatology outpatient procedures but aesthetic skin care too.

The elective workload includes mainly skin cancer surgery, from operating sessions, assessment and review clinics and attendance of MDT meetings.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to actively participate in the provision of a high-quality skin cancer and dermatology service.

You will be expected to provide lesion assessment and review clinics, operating sessions and attendance at virtual MDTs. You will be expected to review histology results and contact patients and GPs accordingly.

You will be expected to work semi independently and be able to plan effective treatment of individual patients.

As part of this role, you will be required to assist with annual excision margin/quality assurance audits.
