Job summary
Youll perform all routine IVF procedures, manage, plan and
undertake patient treatments, providing an exceptional consultation service. Youll
manage the assessment of emergency admissions, arranging appropriate. You will
be expected to provide clinical support to nursing staff providing emergency
telephone advice, as required.

communicating with patients in ways other than face to face (e.g. phone, video,
email, letter). You have the professional gravitas that provide them with the

As a Consultant in Reproductive Medicine/Fertility Specialist, youll provide clinical services in the field of reproductive medicine as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will be responsible for ensuring that the highest standards of clinical care are delivered in line with Care objectives as well as national standards. They will work closely with the Medical Director, the medical community of the organisation and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide standardised practice across the organisation in addition to continually striving to improve and develop services further. They will be expected to actively participate in clinical governance and quality management of the local service.
The post-holder will work with the Medical Director and colleagues in the management of the rota to ensure activity is achieved and consistent safe cover is available.

Specific Duties/ Responsibilities
Consult and assess patients.
Plan and undertake patient treatments.
Undertake the assessment of emergency admissions, arranging appropriate onward referral where appropriate.
Correspond/ liaise with satellite doctors/ general practitioners/ referrers/other specialists.
Correspond and communicate with patients (e.g. by phone, email, letter).
Ensure the consenting of all patients prior to treatment is undertaken.
Work in theatre, undertaking egg collections, embryo transfers, and other fertility related procedures (within the limits of your competencies).
Provide weekend clinical cover on a rota basis in line with the contractual agreement.
Provide clinical cover at other Care clinics as and when needed.
Provide clinical support to nursing staff providing emergency telephone advice, when on call.
Participate in Patient Information Events and other educational events for patients.
Management Responsibilities
Be an active member of the Clinics Management Team and the Group wide Consultant Team. Attending and contributing to meetings and driving forward the development of the clinic and the wider group donation team.
Ensure a systematic process is embedded for the management and coordination of the day-to-day activities of the team, ensuring safe practice at all times allocating workloads and responsibilities in an efficient and effective way.
Demonstrate leadership and motivation within the clinic leadership team and promote team working.
Complete clinical notes and documentation (including financial documentation) in accordance with Care protocols & policies.
Participate in audit, clinical risk management and clinical governance in accordance with Care protocols & policies.
Attend and contribute to Quality Management meetings and Ethics Committee meetings.
Ensure best practice is embedded to ensure the team delivers the highest standard of patient care at all times.
Ensure effective team and 1-1 communication on group wide, local and team matters.
Provide appropriate development of team members according to their level of capability and competence.
Support the development of team members by providing regular feedback and undertaking performance management reviews.
To supervise and undertake the training of employees from all disciplines.
