As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner at Care Fertility, youll be at the start of something big. Youll play a leading role in our clinic, and an integral part of developing and shaping the nursing Team and the nursing service. Well help you to grow and make sure your development continues. Youll have an extended clinical role including consultations, obtaining patient consent, ultrasound scanning, prescribing and IUI. Youll also assist with the monitoring of treatment cycles, and embryo transfer and egg collections.

The scope of practice will be dependent only on your training and competency assessment.

Youll also assist with the management and nursing care of Care patients attending procedures relating to IVF, working in the Ward Area and Procedure Room, Recovery and delivering pre and post operative care.

Main duties of the job

About you:

Youre an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with experience of conducting consultations and ultrasound and transvaginal scanning (and have qualifications). Youre experienced in fertility/IVF.

It would be ideal if you have experience of obtaining patient consent, prescribing, IUI, embryo transfer and egg collections. However, its not essential as we can arrange for training for these and make sure that youre qualified.

The aims of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner are to assist with the provision of the nursing and ultrasound service at Care Tunbridge Wells. To have an extended clinical role including consultations, ultrasound scanning, IUI and endometrial scratching and embryo transfer. To have a key role in developing the nursing team and the nursing service As a member of the Care Family, you will carry out your roles in a way that supports and delivers our shared values. Role accountabilities and duties: To coordinate or assist with the daily running of the fertility clinic, working with the nursing and ultrasonography teams and the wider multidisciplinary team, including Egg Donation and PGD teams, over a seven-day rota, including weekends and bank holidays. Clinic duties include injection teaching, venepuncture, assist with the monitoring of treatment cycles. To undertake extended nursing practice such as patient consultations, prescribing, scanning, embryo transfers and egg collections. The scope of practice will be dependent on the practitioners training, competency assessment and the clinics operating model. Assist with management and nursing care of Care patients attending procedures relating to IVF, working in the Ward Area and Procedure Room, Recovery and delivering pre and post operative care. Obtain patients consent forms and ensure consent forms are signed as per Cares consent policies and standard operating procedures. Assist with ultrasound scanning and supporting the clinicians and embryologists in the Care operating theatre, as appropriate. To provide advice and information to patient regarding aspects of their treatment and provide emotional support to patients, both face to face and over the telephone. Maintain accurate patient documentation, both written and computerised, in line with agreed protocols. Assist in maintaining the safe custody of drugs in accordance with NMC guidelines. Assist clinicians and embryologists in all procedures and adhere to Care protocols. Maintain at all times; effective communication with patients, medical staff, nursing staff and other colleagues, including liaising with other Care centres. Ensure equipment is left in good order, reporting any faults or hazards to Nurse in Charge, Unit Manager or Facilities Manager. Maintain professional development according to NMC guidelines, including up-to-date knowledge of current accepted practice and professional issues. Maintain all standards of professionalism, performed to the NMC code of conduct. Assist with promoting a quality service to patients. Attend Care Unit, Clinical and Nurse meetings. To assist with Patient Information Evenings. Actively participate in Cares performance management processes and competency assessment processes. Special Duties: To be an ambassador and facilitator for the development of the nursing team, including supporting the nurse manager in planning monthly training and development sessions. To supervise and mentor junior members of the team, especially at induction and when introducing change. To support, teach and assess members of the nursing team to support their development and achievements against the Care competency framework. To raise the profile of the nursing team internally and externally, encouraging research activities and submission of abstracts, posters and papers. To lead and manage the nursing audit programme and participate in the wider clinical audit programme. Systems and digital processes Input data, find information on the clinical patient database and follow the system pathways to ensure accurate record keeping and efficient and safe processes. Embrace developments and new systems to maximise results and efficiency. Suggest new ideas and improvements. Use digital platforms to communicate effectively with colleagues.
