Job summary
This is a really varied and wide-ranging role it has everything from supporting nurses, midwives and the wider clinic teams in the coordination of treatments to patients while making sure they can have the best possible experience they can receive.
Youll talk to patients and support them throughout their treatment journey, provide them with information, resolving any queries or problems. Youll provide emotional support to them using empathy and understanding, and if you need to, signpost them to our counselling support services.
Youll support patients consultations with general healthcare duties such as taking their height, weight and blood pressure. Also support the nursing team with preparing the Procedure Room, assisting with procedures, taking post-operation observations and also chaperoning the Consultants for procedures such as ultrasound scans.
Youll need to accurately input data, find information on the clinical patient database and follow the system pathways to ensure patient record are accurate.
There is the potential of personal development in this role with training provided for cannulation and also assisting in theatre.
Main duties of the job
About you:
Youre a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital setting or fertility clinic, with an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care. Youre also a team player with a desire for continuous personal and professional development.
Attention to detail cannot be stressed enough, this is a medical environment and mistakes are not just extremely costly to everybody involved, they can be dangerous
Excellent communication is required as youll be dealing with people from all backgrounds, making In and outbound calls where needed, delivering a high-quality patient experience youre acting as a Care Fertility ambassador in all of your interactions.

This a part-time role working 4 days a week on a rota between 08:00 16:00 Monday to Friday (with some Saturdays where required).

As a HCA at Care Fertility, you will assist the team of registered nurse and midwives and the broader multi-disciplinary team in supporting the coordination of treatment cycles and providing our patients with the best possible treatment experience and as a team giving each patient the very best chance of success.

Information provision
Provide information to patients, giving patients time and support in understanding their treatment plan and answering patient queries throughout their treatment journey to the extent that you are competent to do so. This will be dealing with questions face to face and over the telephone/ video call and resolving any queries or problems.

Clinical duties
To undertake a range of duties in an outpatient setting supporting consultations including the taking of height, weight and blood pressure.
To perform phlebotomy i.e. to take blood samples from patients in line with Cares standard operating procedures, following training and competency assessment.
To undertake duties in the day case setting including supporting the nursing team with preparing the Procedure Room, assisting with procedures and supporting registered team members with the recovery of patients following sedation.
To undertake abdominal scanning duties in the procedure room once trained and assessed as competent to do so.

Input data, find information on the clinical patient database and follow the system pathways to ensure accurate record keeping and efficient and safe processes.
