We have an exciting opportunity for a Paramedic to join our Primary Care team at HMP Altcourse a category B Prison located in Fazakerley, Liverpool.
HMP Altcourse is the busiest remand prison in the country and you will be at the heart of prison healthcare, managing triage and unplanned care for a diverse and complex patient population. You will assess and treat patients, responding to a wide range of clinical needs, including, Emergency response and acute illness, Chronic disease management, Injuries, trauma, and use of force assessments and Patients under the influence of drugs or alcohol and Mental health crises.
Hours:
- Monday - Sunday service - 37.5 hours per week
- 7am - 8pm
- 1 weekend in 3
- Rota's are done 2 months in advance
- Occasional nights
Salary
This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £43,609 - £49,175 per annum FTE which will be pro rota - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Paramedic, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- Provide outstanding evidence based case to our patients seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them - focussing on emergency and unplanned care to patients with both primary care and acute care needs.
- Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
- Playing an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patients care following our policies, procedures and always considering safeguarding.
- You will work alongside a highly skilled and experienced multidisciplinary team, including doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), pharmacists, nurses, support workers, administrative staff, and access to in-house diagnostics such as X-ray, ultrasound, and blood clinics. This collaborative approach ensures high-quality, safe, and effective patient care within a well-supported clinical environment.

- Qualified Paramedic
- Current professional registration (HCPC)
- Proven post-registration ambulance experience
- Evidence of continued professional development
- A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
- Proven experience in either: Accident & Emergency, Primary Care environments or Minor injuries / illness
Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
