We have a fantastic opportunity for a Support Worker to join the Substance Misuse team at HMP Risley, a Category C male prison in Warrington. We offer a supportive, fast paced, challenging environment where no two days are the same. 

Is it challenging....Yes! It is rewarding....definitely!    Hours:   This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Shifts are 8am - 4pm.   Salary: This position is full time , and youll receive an annual salary of £25,557 - £29,723 per annum - depending on experience.   How will we support you?

Main duties of the job

As our new Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Work within the Non-Clinical Substance Misuse Service, assisting the wider team and ensuring that patients get the best possible care and healthcare
  • Assist in group delivery, these are psychosocial based and focus on relapse prevention, drug use, alcohol misuse etc 
  • Offer harm reduction advice
  • Carry out initial assessments and triage, both on reception and on the wings
  • Attend resettlement meetings and assist with release planning
  • Second checking as needed

  • Have experience within a substance misuse role, whether in the community, prison or secure setting
  • Have knowledge of substance misuse and recovery, as well as recovery interventions
  • Any experience of trauma informed practice would be a bonus
  • Have a real passion for this area, and want to help those using the service
