We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at Derwentside IRC (Immigration Removal Centre), based just outside of Consett, County Durham. 

This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities and is a great environment to build on your experience within the primary care service.    The team at Derwentside are a close knit team, who are very supportive and take pride in the work that they do!   Hours:   This is a part time role, 22.5 hours per week, between Monday and Sunday, including days and nights.    Salary: This position is part time , youll receive an annual salary of between £24,669 - £28,690 (FTE, this will be pro rata'd for the part time hours) - depending on experience.   How will we support you?

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

• Working within the primary care team, you will work with Nurses and Nursing Associates across the service
• Assist with clinical observations, vaccination clinics etc
• Provide outstanding quality based care to all patients
• Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback 
• Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics
• Support the nursing and pharmacy teams onsite
• Support the mental health and substance misuse teams as necessary
• Assist with release and discharge when needed

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:

• Hold a NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent - a Level 3 would be a bonus!
• Have experience in a care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
• Have a caring and compassionate approach 
• Have experience within primary care
• Any experience of working with vulnerable adults would be beneficial
