We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse role at HMP Lewes to join our team. HMP Lewes is a category B male prison. Lewes prison is based near the centre of the historical town of Lewes, which is just a 5 minute walk away.
Hours 37.5 hours a week working Monday - Sunday 0700-1930 SalaryYoull receive an annual salary up to £49,770 per annum - depending on experience

Main duties of the job
As a Senior Mental Health Nurse you will
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions.
- You will undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication
- Attend emergency response situations
- Assess patients, and undertake reception screening.
- You will assess patients health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge.
- You will ensure that you assess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission to the prison and throughout their period of custody so that any appropriate referral can be made.
- You will also be responsible for making a clinical judgement with regard to any immediate need and long term treatment.

Qualifications required
Registered nurse Mental Health Current professional qualification (NMC) Evidence of Continued Professional Development Experience of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working A non-judgmental and compassionate approach Understanding of mental health policy including clinical governance and the quality and outcomes framework, along with national standards such as NICE Secure environments are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work.
