We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Practitioner to join our Mental Health team at HMP Belmarsh, a category A Prison located in Greenwich, London.
HMP Belmarsh is a male, maximum security prison that has a capacity for 910 inmates. Healthcare at HMP Belmarsh includes, Dentists, Primary Care, Mental Health, Substance abuse and Pharmacy.
Hours
Monday - Friday 0800 - 1600
Salary
This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £53,172 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Mental Health Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
- Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback
- support the registered nurse in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received
- promote safe patient care
- develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

Qualifications required
- Current NMC registration
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
- Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
- Sound clinical knowledge and assessment skills including risk assessment
Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
