As our Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe, clean environment by leading infection control strategies and reducing healthcare-associated infections. Working as part of the senior clinical team, you will provide expert guidance, conduct audits, and champion best practices to maintain our high standards of care. You will be working 3 days a week, 22.5 hours per week.Main duties of the job
- Lead and implement infection prevention and control (IPC) strategies to maintain high standards of patient safety.
- Provide expert guidance and support to clinical teams on best practices, including hand hygiene, waste disposal, and equipment decontamination.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections, reporting findings to the Head of Nursing and Governance Team.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including housekeeping and estates, to ensure compliance with IPC policies.
- Investigate surgical site infections, analyse trends, and report findings to key stakeholders.
- Attend IPC forums and training to stay up to date with national guidelines and best practices.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by sharing audit findings, delivering training, and engaging staff in IPC initiatives.
About us
- Registered NMC Nurse
- with an Infection Control qualification or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in an acute hospital setting, with a strong understanding of infection prevention and control practices.
- Proven expertise in infection control auditing and developing prevention strategies.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proactive approach to learning and professional development, staying up to date with best practices and guidelines.
