We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Primary Care team at HMP Lindholme, a Category C male adult prison based in Doncaster, with operational capacity of around 900.

This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities and is a great environment to build on your experience and gain new skills!   This role sits within our Primary Care team, where no 2 days are ever the same! You will work within our Primary Care centre / clinics as well as on the wings.    Hours:   This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, working 4 shifts per week, Monday - Sunday between 07:30 - 17:30.   Salary: This position is full time , youll receive an annual salary of £24,669 - £28,690 per annum - depending on experience.   How will we support you?

Main duties of the job

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Carry out all aspects of patient screening - venepuncture, ECGs, urine samples, vaccinations and immunisations as required
  • Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages, phlebotomy and assessment, treatment and the evaluation of patients care 
  • You will support the Primary Care Nurses with all aspects of care
  • You will primarily be working within the primary care team, although may be required to carry out duties in the substance misuse or mental health teams, as well as second checking as needed
  • Support Nurses in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care and be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
  • Hold a NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
  • Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable! 
  • Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
  • Have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGS, wound care etc
  • Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
