We have a fantastic opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP Leicester. HMP Leicester is a category B remand prison based close to Leicester town centre and train station. The Prison houses around 408 male patients, the majority of whom are aged between 20-40 years of age.
Within this role you will be working with an experienced and supportive multi-disciplinary team. Including 1 other GP and a trainee ACP. Your role will be focused on supporting patients with substance misuse and acute needs, suitable applicant must have experience and feel confident prescribing controlled substance.
Hours Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 4-8pm This role may change in the future and could lead to compressed hours We are also able to consider this as a job share
Salary
This position is a part time role working 16 hour per week, with an annual salary of up to £131,875 per annum depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community, as a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldnt usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.
- Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
- Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with having active
- involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications required - MBChB or MBBS
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
