We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician for a 12 months fixed term contract to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Stafford, a category C Prison located in West Midlands. 

HMP Stafford is a male prison with a capacity of 753, 45% of the population is over 50's. 

Hours

Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week over a 4 day week. 

Salary

This position is full time for a 12 month fixed term contract, youll receive an annual salary up to £31,545 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Pharmacy Technician, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Ensuring patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
  • Ensuring timely administration of medicines through to analysing cost effective prescribing as defined through our unique health in justice medicines policy.
  • Work together to make a difference to all the people we support, and make Practice Plus Group, a place where each of us feels appreciated, challenged and supported to do our best work fulfilling the lives of others.
  • Communicate complex or sensitive information whilst demonstrating empathy and understanding to patients.
  • Share information relating to pharmaceutical products, medicines optimisation, drug regimes, medicines legislation and general health education so that the multidisciplinary healthcare team are appropriately informed.

Qualifications required (copy from JD)

  • NVQ Level 3, or above, BTEC or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Up to date with Continual Professional Development (CPD)
  • Relevant post-qualification pharmacy experience
  • General GCSE education or equivalent 
  • Able to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
