We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank Healthcare Assistant to join our Primary Care team at HMP Wormwood Scrubs, a category B  Prison located in London.

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK  and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job

  As a Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

• Work predominately in our planned care team. You will be wing based and support Pharmacy technicians in administration of medications
• Be responsible for interventions on your wing such as taking bloods, vaccinating, completing assessments and referrals and triaging healthcare applications
• Work across substance misuse services and provide care and assessment to those undergoing detox for drug and alcohol.

Our new Healthcare Assistant Will Have:

• NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
• Experience in a healthcare environment - any prison experience would be a bonus!
• A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
• Excellent communication skills
• Good IT skills and IT literacy
• Ability to work within a busy environment
• Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures
