We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Doncaster, a Category B male prison, with operational capacity of around 1145, 200 of which are males aged between 18 - 20 years old. HMP Doncaster is a local resettlement prison in South Yorkshire.

This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities and is a great environment to build on your experience within the primary care service.    Hours:   This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, working a variety of shifts: Monday - Sunday 07:00 - 20:30, 10:00 - 22:30, 19:00 - 07:30 - usually 3 long shifts.    Salary: This position is full time , youll receive an annual salary up to £27,195 per annum - depending on experience.   How will we support you?

Main duties of the job

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Working within the primary care team, you will work with Nurses and Nursing Associates across the service
  • Provide outstanding quality based care to all patients
  • Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback 
  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics
  • Support the nursing and pharmacy teams on the wings and healthcare centres
  • Support the mental health and substance misuse teams as necessary

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
  • Hold a NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
  • Have experience in a care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
  • Have experience within primary care
  • Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
