We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Practice Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Leicester a category B Remand Prison located in Leicestershire.  

HMP Leicester is a male prison with the capacity of 356, 80% of the prisoners are on remand. 

Hours: 

Monday - Sunday 37.5 hours per week with shift patters of either 7.30am - 6pm or 8.30pm - 7.30am. 

Salary: 

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £46,200.00 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Practice Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Provide clinical leadership for the Primary care team and be a critical leader within the scheduled care Team. This multi-disciplinary team is made up of a variety of registered and non-registered professionals including; nurses, doctors and mental health/substance misuse practitioners.
  • Act as a role model ensuring professional appearance and maintaining professional standards at all times.
  • Deliver face to face care and provide safe and effective health assessments and treatment of patients within the establishment.
  • Be accountable for your own practice, including the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge or referral of patients, independent of medical intervention.
  • You will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team in providing quality, evidence based health care to meet the immediate needs of the patient. 
  • Clinical duties also to include senior leadership in complex wounds, long term conditions and QoF management.

Qualifications required: 

  • NMC registration
  • Working autonomously as a clinical practitioner following best practice guidance and identifying risk to patients through sound use of clinical expertise
  • Knowledge of the safeguarding of adults and children

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
