We have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Lead to be the one of the first to join our team at HMP Millsike, a brand new Category B men's prison, located in the village of Full Sutton near York

HMP Millsike will have an operational capacity of 1500 people who will spend their sentences learning the skills they need to find work on release as part of the governments drive to cut reoffending. The prison site is currently under construction and Practice Plus Group were recently awarded the healthcare contract to begin delivering services in April 2025.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of a new healthcare team from the inception of a brand new prison site.

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary of between £47,250 and £53,077 per annum depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Primary Care Lead, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

 

  • be responsible for providing the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the primary care team across an integrated healthcare service, contributing to the strategic direction of the service.
  • support your team to carry out comprehensive assessments, confidently communicating treatment options, and initiating supportive care plans, working with individuals on a 1-2-1 basis alongside the wider multi-disciplinary team.
  • lead/contribute to clinical and consumer audits.
  • be responsible to the Head of Healthcare, to ensure the management of the service meets its contractual obligations

Qualifications and experience required:

  • registered adult nurse with valid NMC registration
  • experience in leading a team
  • prison experience would be preferable but not essential
