Practice Plus Group are the largest independent elective surgery partner to the NHS and Southampton is one of the busiest and most diverse hospitals, supporting a broad range of specialties and services. Whilst joining the team as a substantive Anaesthetist, the Lead will be responsible for the management of anaesthetic resource across the hospital. This post reports into the Hospital Medical Director, alongside whom the Lead Anaesthetist will input into service and quality improvements.

Main duties of the job
Within our collaborative team you will be required to provide anaesthetic services to support elective orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, ENT, oral surgery, ophthalmology, gynaecology, pain services and endoscopy.
The clinical sessions will be distributed between operating theatre, out-patient pre-assessment and in-patient ward rounds. An example of a typical working week is presented below: This is subject to change according to local need. As a key member of the centres team you will be working closely with our team of Consultants across a wide range of specialisms and the hospitals Medical Director, Chris and local Leadership Team. Furthermore, you will be a key contributor to the development of Clinical Quality Standards and participate in our audit and clinical governance programme.

With a current registration with the GMCs specialist register of anaesthetists youll have several years experience, at least 2 of which are within the UK. You are committed to your own continuing medical education and professional development. We will also support you to ensure ongoing medical competence through participation in the annual revalidation and reaccreditation schemes of the GMC and the Royal College of Anaesthetists. As well as providing mandatory training through our excellent in house education programme. We could even give you the opportunity to develop into a specialist role of your interest.
