We are an elective surgical centre providing arthroplasty surgery, orthopaedics, general surgery, endoscopy and cataract surgery.

The clinical services include Outpatients, Day Surgery Unit, Inpatient Ward, Theatres, Endoscopy suite, Radiography, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy with care provided by a multidisciplinary team.

The ward is 30 bedded and staffed 24/7 by nurses, nurse associates and healthcare assistants. We are looking to recruit an experienced, dynamic and inspiring nurse leader as our inpatient Ward Manager. This is an exciting time to join PPG Plymouth as we are increasing our clinical activity and growing our teams. The inpatient ward primarily cares for our post-operative arthroplasty patients with some general surgery and other orthopaedic surgery patients.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing clinical leadership, clinical expertise and management of the 30 bedded inpatient, elective surgical ward

  • Holding 24 hour accountability for safe, effective and high quality care of all patients on the inpatient ward.

  • Supporting, developing and empowering the nursing team to consistently deliver the highest possible standards of care and patient experience.

  • We are looking for a RN Adult nurse with extensive post registration practice in a surgical setting and substantial experience in a senior nursing role band 6 or above, confident with leading nursing team and delivering the full spectrum of ward management responsibilities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • We are looking for a RN Adult nurse with extensive post registration practice in a surgical setting and substantial experience in a senior nursing role band 6 or above, confident with leading nursing team and delivering the full spectrum of ward management responsibilities. Link to person spec

Desirable

  • Orthopaedic qualification will be an advantage
  • A qualification in teaching and assessment or coaching.
  • Immediate or Advanced Life support qualification.
  • Safeguarding level 3 training.
  • Established and experienced Ward manager.
  • Clinical Leadership or Management qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive post registration experience in a surgical setting.
  • Nurse management experience.
  • Working knowledge of CQC standards and framework.

Desirable

  • Clinical practice experience in an Orthopaedic Ward will be an advantage.
  • Level 1 experience will be an advantage.
