This is a full time role but would also be happy to welcome part-time applications, ideally 2 - 3 days a week covering our hospitals in Ilford and in Gillingham.

Main duties of the job

As our General Surgeon, you will provide a full range of surgical diagnosis, treatment and care to inpatients, day patients and outpatients who require general surgery.

Whilst the working week will comprise 40 hours (10 PAs) , working patterns will be flexible and may entail an ad-hoc mix of late evenings and weekend work to meet the requirements of the unit.   There is no on-call commitment but you must be prepared to assess patients urgently in person on the unit as requested by the RMO on duty during routine working hours.  

As a key member of the centres team you will be working closely with our team of Consultants across a wide range of specialisms and the hospitals Medical Director, Nurul, and local Leadership Team.

• Experience of working in general surgery, especially laparoscopic procedures (hernia repair and cholecystectomy). 
• Able to conduct clinical audits
• Able to communicate well with patients and staff, both orally and in writing.
• Committed to your own continuing medical education and professional development.

• Salary of up to £120,000 depending on experience
