We have an exciting opportunity for a Sexual Health Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Stocken, a category C Prison located in Rutland. In this role you will have the opportunity to provide the highest standards of healthcare to our patients, without having to compromise on efficiency and quality.
Hours
The site currently offers a Monday-Friday 07:30-17:30 or 07:30-18:30
Saturday/Sunday/Bank Holidays 08:30-17:30
Salary
This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £38,115 per annum - depending on experience.

Job description
Job responsibilities
As a Sexual Health Nurse, you will lead on promotion, assessment, and
co-ordinating treatment for patients in all aspects of sexual health (plus contraception
within female estate). Leading on preventative health, your key role will be
ensuring effective and consistent recognition of STIs, symptomatic and asymptomatic
screening, taking samples and managing laboratory pathways, Point of care
testing, treating infections via PGDs. Providing sound knowledge and skill in Tier 1 & 2 Sexual Health
services which will support patients to make informed choices about their
health and wellbeing. Working in partnership with services delivering tier 3
and 4.
Youll co-ordinate all clinical activity in relation to sexual health and where
applicable contraception, conduct STI screening and advising patients of
results and conduct clinical examination and care planning for patients who
require treatment. Youll be the point of care testing, venepuncture,
microscopy and cryotherapy. As well as provide initial crisis intervention,
counselling and appropriate referral for those clients attending the clinic
with relevant problems, e.g. termination of pregnancy, sexual identity, sexual
assault, substance misuse and sexual dysfunction.
Additionally lead health promotion activities to deliver proactive clinics and
awareness campaigns; undertaking screening of individuals and populations and
respond appropriate to findings. Including offering information and support and
deal with enquiries from health professionals about Sexually Transmitted
Infections, including HIV and AIDS, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C and engage with
and develop the risk assessment process for PEP and PREP.
Supervising
non-registered staff in areas related to sexual health.

equivalence. Create a safe and effective
sexual health services, implementing clinical pathways for the management
sexual health within the prison community

service that people can trust, feel safe within and feel proud of. Motivate
teams in all areas of promoting sexual health and leading by example.
