To assist with the routine maintenance, and ensure the continued clean and fresh atmosphere our patients have come to expect at our hospitals, we are looking for aprofessional Painter and Decoratorto join our Facilities Team based at our Portsmouth Hospital.
- Are you a skilled Painter and Decorator who people would say has a keen eye for detail?
- Apart from domestic work, have you ever utilised your painting skill on project at schools, offices, listed buildings or hospitals?
- Would you say you were a customer focused individual who takes pride in their work?
The positions main remit will be to take notice, maintain and own improving the hospital decorative interior appearance which includes making good, painting, decorating and minor repairs to fixtures and fittings.
This is a permanent position, typically working Monday to Friday, (with the occasional Saturday!)
Working hours, typically 08:30 to 17:00, (with flexible hours being an option!)
Main duties of the job
Being thePainter and Decoratorat our Portsmouth hospital will see you plan your own day and map your own week. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be working using your own initiative, identifying areas were remedials are needed and making good.
You will be ensuring the health and safety of yourself and others by appropriately notifying where needed of the work you are about to carry out, establishing when the best times would be to carry out the works and ensuring the appropriate signage and protection barriers in place.
You may need to accompany external contractors on occasions around our hospital site as part of the Facilities team, and assist / lead a hand to your team members with other maintenance requirements.

It is envisaged that the appointedPainter and Decoratorand will have proven experience utilising a keen eye for detail, care and attention to their painting work, from preparation to the final clean up!
You would have conducted paining work in areas open to the public, where health and safety and accessibility may conflict, you would be conscientious, is pro-active, adaptable, and versatile, able to think outside the box.
