We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join our integrated Mental Health team at HMP Leicester a category B remand men's prison based in the centre of Leicester.  The prison currently supports around 408 male patients including local patients on remand. 

Hours

Clinical hours run Mon - Sun 07.30 - 1800

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to 38,115 per annum - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
  • Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed.
  • Assess patients health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge.
  • Assess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission to the prison and throughout their period of custody so that any appropriate referral can be made.
  • Be responsible for making a clinical judgement with regard to any immediate need and long term treatment.

Qualifications required

  • Qualified Mental Health Nurse with NMC registration
  • Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
  • Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
  • Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards
  • Knowledge of evidence based practice, health promotion, NICE guidelines and pharmacology
