We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Whatton, a category C Prison located in Nottinghamshire.
Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. We deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldnt usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.The site currently offers a flexible working pattern.
This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to 130,000 per annum - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job
We recognise training and development is key, therefore we provide a training portal to facilitate your needs as well as have an in-depth induction for all staff whether you have experience of working in prisons or not. You will gain insight into Mental Health and Substance Misuse, as well as access to a variety of training opportunities with the opportunity to work towards your RCGP level 2 and other qualifications should you wish.
As a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- You will provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management
- You will also provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.
- promote safe patient care
- develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.
