Main duties of the job

Have you been affected by hepatitis C, or have you supported anyone who has hepatitis C?

We are looking for a passionate HCV Coordinator who will support with raising awareness and proactively increasing HCV (Hepatitis C Virus) testing, treatment and care within Worcestershire.

You will have good communication and organisational skills and we welcome creativity and innovation in all our work. You will also ensure the delivery of educational workshops, promote and provide Hepatitis C testing in community venues and maintain and develop links with partner agencies.

The most important thing youll bring to this role is your desire and ability to make a positive difference to peoples lives.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The HCV Co-ordinator will be a key member of the Cranstoun Worcestershire team, working under the guidance of the Clinical Lead and Management team. The role involves raising awareness and increasing HCV (Hepatitis C Virus) testing, treatment, and care in Worcestershire. The HCV Co-ordinator will foster relationships and partnerships between drug and alcohol treatment services, NHS teams, and hostel and homeless service providers to improve access and engagement with HCV testing and treatment.

  • Workforce Development: Coordinate training for drug and alcohol treatment provider staff on HCV and other blood-borne viruses.
  • Testing, Treatment, and Care: Promote and facilitate increased testing for HCV, especially among marginalized and disadvantaged communities. Ensure ongoing support through treatment and harm reduction approaches.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver workshops to people who use drugs (PWUD) at risk of hepatitis C infection.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local drug and alcohol treatment providers and hostel and homeless support providers.
  • Provide progress reports and identify additional support/training needs.
  • Offer information and health education for individuals diagnosed with BBV infections, providing support and referrals as needed.

Communication:

  • Develop strategies to communicate effectively with PWUD at risk of HCV infection, service staff, NHS teams, Hep C Trust, external organizations, and the public.
  • Maintain supportive and effective relationships with Heptology teams within Worcestershire hospitals.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with frontline workers within relevant services.
  • Provide HCV advice to staff within external services, including health workers, drug service workers, and hostel staff.
  • Develop clear referral procedures with key outside agencies.
  • Attend local, regional, and national team meetings and external meetings as required.

Data and Administration:

  • Complete all administrative tasks related to organizing workshops, testing events, and HCV treatment activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities and adhere to good information governance.
  • Ensure individual treatment records are up to date.
  • Support data collection and monitor linkage into HCV treatment.
  • Monitor and analyze HCV data across the service.
  • Collate activity reports and updates for the Cranstoun Worcestershire service.

Personal and Professional Development:

  • Attend regular line management and supervision sessions.
  • Undertake all mandatory training and additional training as identified.
  • Participate in annual Performance Development Reviews.
  • Continue to develop skills, expertise, and knowledge in HCV management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of public policy and legislation regarding hepatitis C.
