Job summary
We are looking to speak with HCPC Registered Medical Microbiology/Infection Science Biomedical Scientists who have experience of providing a high-quality service and have a passion for mentoring and sharing your knowledge. The successful candidate would operate at our Hub laboratory in Taunton and you will be expected to participate in late shifts and on-call.
Monday - Sunday 08:30 - 17:00,
Late shifts Monday - Friday 12:30 - 20:00,
Out of Hours (On Call) - Monday - Friday 19:30 - 08:30
Out of Hours (On Call) - Saturday & Sunday 17:00 - 08:30
Main duties of the job
Our Infection Science Team operate across Microbiology, Virology and Molecular testing and we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our team. This position is predominantly based in the Bacteriology department, working in a laboratory which takes a leading technological approach with a state-of-the-art automated analytical systems.
If you have the following qualifications and skills and feel that you could hit the ground running then wed love to hear from you:
- Greater than 2 years post HCPC registration with experience of working in a busy clinical bacteriology department at post graduate level.
- Experience working with Kiestra, MALDI-ToF, Phoenix and BacTec automated testing platforms
- A strong clinical bacteriology background including knowledge of laboratory Quality Management systems.
- A good understanding of clinical microbiology.
To operate at Band 6, you will also demonstrate experience to post graduate diploma level e.g.: Specialist portfolio.
