Job summary
We are thrilled to announce an incredible opportunity for an experienced and talented Band 7 Biomedical Scientist Team Manager to join our dynamic team in Histopathology. As a part of this team, you will play a critical role in delivering top-quality laboratory services to two highly respected general hospitals Musgrove Park Hospital and Yeovil District Hospital.
The Successful BMS Team Manager will be expected to support Advanced Dissection Lead across both Histology sites and to lead the IBMS portfolio training of newly appointed Apprentices. The post holder is expected to work across the Essential Services Laboratories at Musgrove Park Hospital and Yeovil District Hospital.
SYNLAB UK & Ireland have extensive experience of working in partnership with the NHS to deliver and improve pathology services through its existing pathology joint ventures including Southwest Pathology Services (SPS).
Our team at SPS have been fundamental to the principle of making a positive difference to healthcare in Somerset for 10 years. We hold ISO15189 UKAS accreditation and are an HCPC approved training Laboratory.
Main duties of the job
- To manage, supervise and give professional leadership to a team of Biomedical Scientists and support staff performing analyses within the Hub laboratory
- To carry out tissue dissection to IBMS/RCPath standards in specimen categories within competence and as agreed with consultant staff.
- To be responsible for and ensure that specialist training is delivered to Biomedical Scientists, Healthcare Support Workers and other Healthcare Professionals and to provide expert technical advice in areas of responsibility to all Healthcare Professionals Quality, scientific and technical lead in the key specialism of Histopathology
