Kernow Health CIC

Lead Educator - Social Care Placements

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

This is an opportunity to work with Cornwall Primary Care Training Hub, in collaboration with healthcare system partners across the County, to implement a ground-breaking project to create placements for student nurse within social care settings.

There are many good and outstanding social care services in Cornwall that are not required to be staffed by Registered Healthcare Practitioners (RHP) meaning they are unable to act as host placement providers. These settings could offer nursing students very positive learning experiences.

The role of Lead Educator(s) – Student Nurse Placement in Social Care, will directly address the current barriers by effectively providing placement support to students from within the placement setting. This is an exciting project, which will require the post-holder(s) to develop firm relationships with the selected social care partners to ensure the project is meeting all stakeholder needs. The role(s) will be fully supported by a collaboration of dynamic, passionate, and committed colleagues within Cornwall Training Hub, Cornwall Placement Expansion Team and the Enhanced Care in Care Homes Team.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Placement Expansion Programme (CPEP) has been developed in response to Cornwall’s nursing and allied health professionals (AHP) workforce shortages. The CPEP aims to increase nursing & AHP student placement capacity within primary and social care services, enabling Higher Education Institutions (HEI) to increase their student intake. There are many good and outstanding social care services in Cornwall that are not required to be staffed by Registered Healthcare Practitioners (RHP) meaning they are unable to act as host placement providers. Given the appropriate RHP support these settings could offer nursing students very positive learning experiences.

These post(s) have been specifically created to implement a ground-breaking pilot project to provide the required RHP in-setting support to students.

We are looking for either full time or part time hours, for a 1 year fixed term contract or secondment is considered. The role will be hybrid working, social care, home based and in the community.

About us

Established in May 2011 by a group of Cornwall Practices, we are a GP owned provider organisation and deliver a number of NHS contracts across Cornwall, these include Cornwall 111 Integrated Urgent Care Service, School Immunisation Programme, Children’s Eating Disorder Service and Cornwall Training Hub [formally CEPN].

These contracts support the visions and values of the organisation, and also ensure that we are able to reinvest any profits made back into the company; again with the intention of supporting GP practices across Cornwall. Kernow Health CIC is also now offering member practices support to regroup and rebuild through the new Excellence in Practice (EiP) programme.
