Job summary

We are now looking for additional team members to join us and currently have opportunities for Skills Coaches/Trainers, primarily to support workplace-based programmes (e.g. Preceptorship/new staff coaching)

The work is extremely varied, so if you are a nurse or AHP with primary care experience and a passion for teaching we would love to hear from you. If you have clinical expertise within a particular area we would love to discuss how you could share your knowledge and skills as part of our team. Full support to develop your educational and teaching skills is provided. We have full-time/part-time and sessional paid work available. The role will be hybrid working, home based, at our Practices and ICA based.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will support place-based delivery of primary care educational activities undertaken by the Training Hub. This includes embedding skills with learners of all disciplines undertaking Primary Care Education Programme, associated courses and Training Hub programmes. Skills coaching/training sessions are largely undertaken in the trainee’s own practice setting but may also be remotely delivered.

We are a dynamic and creative small team committed to designing and delivering engaging educational and development programmes to promote upskilling, recruitment and retention for all levels of staff across clinical and non-clinical disciplines, including professional students on primary care placements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support embedding of clinical skills in primary care according to specific areas of expertise and in conjunction with prior assessment by Training Hub Educators/Lead Educators

• Support embedding of new primary care roles, e.g. paramedic, nursing associate,

• Support competency-based career and educational pathways, e.g. Health Care Support Worker, New to Practice Nurses

• Act as a competency sign-off mentor, according to own skill areas and scope of practice

• Use own clinical knowledge and areas of expertise to support education sessions to primary care staff across multi-professional disciplines

• Participate in programme evaluations, audits and training needs analyses as required

• Work as an effective team member with Training Hub, primary care practices and networks, health and social care system colleagues in Cornwall

• Support local Training Hub delivery of national primary care workforce strategies

• Promote multi-professional student placements in primary care by supporting development of clinical learning environments

• Ensure educational activity meets governance and safety requirements and promote best practice

• Prioritise own workload and deliver to deadlines

• Be a car driver with access to a vehicle for work travel to practices, training/meeting/event venues and workplace visits in the future

General

• Actively contribute to the Organisation’s values and behaviours ensuring that relevant processes are open and transparent and encourage the confidence of staff, patients, partner organisations, the public and other agencies.

  • Current NMC/HCP clinical registration and member of relevant professional body
  • Evidence of post qualifying continuous education

Desirable

  • Recorded Teaching qualification
  • Willing to undertake in house/external training
  • Supervisor/Assessor trained
